Search results are given in the Brief display, showing the title, author/editor, and publication date of each document.
- To see the Full details select the highlighted title.
- Up to 25 Brief Records are shown on a page. To browse multiple pages use the 'Next' and 'Previous' options at the top & bottom of the page.
- To move quickly through records use the 'Page:' option. Choose a page number and select 'Go' to move to that page.
- The results of a search are usually sorted. To change the display order use the 'Sort by' option towards the top of the Brief Display. Choose the sort order you want, then select the 'Sort' button. If you find over 750 records they are not automatically sorted. You can use the 'Sort by' option to sort up to 2,500 records, though it may be slow.
Other features
- Mark a record using
to add it to your My References. Your most recently
selected records are shown on the right of the screen. - Select the 'My References' option to see your full references list. Add tags and notes, and delete unwanted references, to create an online bibliography.
- Export a set of records using the 'Export' option at the end of each record display screen (Max. 2,500).
- Or export a
selection of records from the MyReferences screen (Max. 2,500).
- Use the EndNote, Zotero option to download records directly into either the EndNote or Zotero reference management software.
- Use the 'Tagged' format for importing records into EndNote, Reference Manager, Zotero etc.
- The Print format is more concise for printing records.
- The XML format supplies MODS XML.
- The Search History on the
right of your screen lists your most
recent searches. Develop a record of your
research and a list of searches for re-use.
- Select a highlighted search from the Search History list to re-run it.
- Select the Search History option to see your full list of past searches. Add tags and notes, delete unwanted searches, edit and re-run a search.
- Select the
RSS icon to 'subscribe' to a search as an RSS feed. This will re-run
your search regularly, sending you updates with details of new and
changed records. A max of 100 records will be included in
each RSS feed. - Select the New Search option to return to the search screen and enter a new search.
- To edit and re-run your search select the highlighted search terms at the top of each display screen. Eg. If you find too many records you could add a date range to limit your search to documents published in the last few years.
