- Copac looks for Keywords in all parts of the record. Eg. A
search for:
Keyword= Camus Plague
finds records for the book, plus commentaries,
music, sound recordings, and other related works that might not
be found using the Author and Title fields
- For a phrase use quote marks
e.g. "data modelling". This can make your results more precise,
but may exclude relevant material.
- The Keyword search is very useful when you are having
problems tracking down a document and other
searches have failed.
Other features
- The Keyword search automatically looks for English plurals, such as 'mouse' and 'mice'.
- To find variant word endings cut the end
off the search word and replace it with an asterisk *. Copac
will look for all word endings after the asterisk
*. Eg. Behavio* will find both 'behaviour' and 'behavior'.
- The results of a search are usually
sorted.
To change the display order use the 'Sort by' option towards the top
of the Brief Display. Choose the sort order you want,
then select the 'Sort' button. If you find over 750 records they are not
automatically sorted. You can use the 'Sort by' option to
sort up to 2,500 records, though it may be slow.
