About the library
The LSE library, also known as the British Library of Political and Economic Science, is one of the largest economic and social science libraries in the world. It contains over 4 million items and all its collections have been conferred Designated status under the Museum, Libraries and Archives Council's Designation scheme which signifies their national and international importance.
All the collections are housed in one site - the Lionel Robbins Building. The library has a Main Collection, plus a Course Collection which contains multiple copies of core texts. It also has several special collections including the Governmental Collections and Statistics, a Pamphlets Collection dating from the nineteenth century and Rare Books.

Accessing materials
Can I see live document availability on Copac? Yes. The Copac local holdings display will tell you if a document is currently on-loan, reference only etc. as well giving you local location details.
Can I obtain items via Inter Library Loan? Items are available in accordance with the LSE lending policy, see the website for further details. You have to request an inter-library loan via a library of which you are a member. Talk to your own library staff about whether they think the document you need is likely to be available for loan and for advice on making an inter-library loan request.
Can I visit the library to view materials? Yes - visit the library's web site for access details. If you wish to visit it is advisable to contact the library in advance to ensure the material you need will be available.
